Reading: This week the students read stories about dogs and other animals. The students learned that some dogs go to school to learn how to behave and to learn tricks. The high-frequency words learned this week are: hear, hold, hurt, their, walk, would, learn. Please add these words to your flashcards and practice at home.
Math: The students have been learning about measurement this week. The students have been introduced to non-standard units of measurements, such as a person’s foot and arm span, and have also learned about standard units of measurement, especially 6-inch and 12-inch rulers and inches.
Social Studies: The students have continued to learn about Native Americans. We compared and contrasted life today to what life was like for the Native Americans. The students learned about symbols they used to write messages to each other. They have also started learning about Thanksgiving and the pilgrims.
